Essentials to see in Denia: Friday afternoon or evening

When you arrive in Denia on Friday afternoon or evening, you will surely need to start resting and disconnecting. What better way than to go for a walk and have a drink to start relaxing, like San Antonio square, Els Magazinos, the port area

Essentials to see in Denia: Saturday

What better way to start the weekend than by visiting the municipal market? Here you can buy local products such as fruit, vegetables and seafood. Denia’s municipal market is a must for those who love gastronomy and fresh produce. You will find a wide variety of local products, such as fruit and vegetables, seafood, meat and sausages, as well as regional specialities. You can enjoy tapas or buy products to prepare a picnic on the beach.

At lunchtime, we recommend a break in one of the seafood restaurants located in the port of El Portet in Denia. The port of Dénia is one of the largest on the Spanish Mediterranean coast. It is a very lively place, especially in summer, with many restaurants, bars and shops. Here you can enjoy local specialities while admiring the magnificent view of the mountains, the castle and the boats.

After a good meal, head to the promenade of les Rotes, located to the east of the city. This promenade is famous for its crystal clear beaches and steep cliffs. You can enjoy the beach or take a walk along the coastal path to digest.

Essentials to see in Denia: Sunday

Finally, on Sunday morning, we recommend a visit to Denia Castle. This medieval castle is located on a hill and offers a panoramic view of the city and the Mediterranean Sea.

The castle of Denia is a historical complex dating from the 12th century. It was built by the Arabs to protect the city from sea invasions. Over the centuries, the castle has been enlarged and modified by the different cultures that have occupied the city, including the Romans and Christians. Today, the castle houses the Archaeological Museum of Denia, where the history of the city and its surroundings can be discovered. From the top of the castle tower, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the city and the Mediterranean Sea.

After visiting the castle, we recommend that you go down the hill and enter the old town of Denia. Here you can admire the old houses, cobbled streets and picturesque squares. The narrow, winding streets of the old town are also perfect for walking around and discovering the traditional architecture of the area. Indeed, you can admire the parish church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción in the Constitution square, where Denia’s town hall is located. Next to it is the Council square, where the Denia tunnel is located.

In the afternoon, depending on your preferences, you can also visit the Ethnological Museum of Denia, which shows the habitat of the 19th century bourgeoisie, enriched by the trade of the sultanas. Here you will find all the customs of the city of Denia. Or, if you prefer to do some sport, the Montgó Natural Park, which offers hiking routes and spectacular views of the sea.

Then end the day with a drink in one of the bars on Loreto street. This lively street is known for its bars and restaurants.
