The Pez Luna monument in Denia

Das Pez-Luna-Denkmal

The Pez Luna monument of Denia is located on the southern breakwater of the city, which separates the beach of the marineta casiana and the marina. This sculpture, made by the sculptor Toní Marí, is 3 metres high and 2.5 metres wide.

The meaning of the Pez Luna monument in Denia

The Peix Luna monument aims to raise awareness of the need to take care of the environment, given the situation we are going through all over the world.

This fish reminds us that at the bottom of the sea there is all kinds of marine life, whether animal or plant. And although most of the time we don’t see them, they are there. It is important to remember that 25% of the species in this world come from the ocean.

As you can see, the Pez Luna monument has a large void inside, leaving a beautiful image of the sea through it. It is not only aesthetic, but it is also a very artistic way of telling us that the inside of the fish is the sea itself, since marine life feeds on the sea, so everything that is thrown away or ends up in the sea, ends up being food and part of the environment, thus not only contaminating the ocean itself or the life that lives in it, but also ends up contaminating the world in general, which, like them, also feeds on the sea. It is therefore a very intelligent way of raising awareness among the audience.
